Susan Lasch Krevitt
Susan Lasch Krevitt was born and grew up in Chicago, Illinois. She moved to Southern California in 1987 and currently resides in Thousand Oaks, CA. She is a member of several local arts organizations.
Lasch Krevitt’s work is about the creative process and discovery of color and texture combined therefore she encourages people to touch her work as part of the sensory experience. The materials are integral to the work.
“My work explores the visual discovery and intuitive revelation found through the combining of dissimila materials. Working within the historic contexts of piecing, assemblage, and serial imagery, I create dense & highly textured non-objective surfaces. The current series utilizes the translucent & rigid qualities of the encaustic medium in conjunction with textiles gathered from deconstructed garments. By saturating wool, silk and cotton with encaustic I am able to manipulate, capture & retain the unique fluid quality specific to each textile. The rigidity of the medium transforms the work, giving it new strength. This allows me to build outward with increased dimensionality. The transformed nature of the surface is at once familiar and at the same time, new."
Susan’s work has been exhibited around the world and is held inprivate collections in the U.S, Canada, Australia & New Zealand.
