Shane Pickerill was born and raised in Illinois. After completing his B.F.A. at Millikin University in southern Illinois, he was accepted into the M.F.A. program at California Institute of the Arts and moved to California in 1992. He continues to live and work in Southern California to this day.
Shane works in a variety of media including sculpture, computer graphics, and painting. His current work explores themes about games and interactivity. He has a strong interest in using computer technology in the design & creation of his work. After a 14 year hiatus, Shane began painting again in 2009. “It was so difficult at first that I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to paint again. I was afraid I’d lost it. But I’m getting more comfortable again and I see how much I’ve missed it. It’s like an old friend that I’ve found again. I won’t forget him ever again.” He is currently working on a series of abstract paintings.
