More Work by Sam on Page 2

Hello my name is Sam and I am a drawer and painter. I have been painting for a few years now and as for drawing, I have been doing that for most of my life. I consider myself an “underground” painter by which I mean I’m not out in the spotlight yet - but I am getting there. I have been in most of my school art shows and from here on, the only way is up!

I live in the Lancaster area quite a way north of Los Angeles. There is not that much around here that supports visual arts so I look further afield for ideas, opportunities and ways to promote my work.

Though I like to experiment in various styles I prefer, at the moment, to concentrate on figurative works; mostly nudes. I prefer to work with women nude models, not seeing them as subjects of study, but rather I seek to reveal something of the female personality and emotional makeup in my paintings.

I also like to delve into abstracts. I believe that abstracting something ‘real’ is a way to question what it is we actually see, how we visualize it and what it can mean beyond its first layer of recognition. As I paint, I like to let my mind and imagination lead me on a wild adventure of color and shapes. My paintings are the results on my untamed mind.

I enjoy doing custom made work and I welcome the challenge of commissions.

“The mind is the most dangerous place to go through, but I will let you peek in mine. My artwork reflexes the things in my life that I like, or it reflects what goes on in my life and in my mind. When we meet people for the first time our minds begin to form an image of them on a blank canvas. The more we get to know them, the more we talk with them the picture in our mind becomes more colorful and more complex. The mind might create an image of beauty as it learns about someone or it just might create something disturbing.

So, if I came across you, what do you think my mind might create of you? Would it be something beautiful, calm and serene or something dark and frightening? Our minds create both our nicest dreams and our most horrifying nightmares.”
