For over 35 years, Robin Repp has been documenting and commenting on our contemporary society with different photographic methods. Beginning as a student at UC Berkeley, she created photo silk-screen images and transformed them into protest posters. Since then, she has presented photo imagery in paintings, woodcuts, lithography, drawings, collages, and sculptures. Her work portrays the emotions of fear and anticipation in the landscape. Most often the human figure is included in these social commentary images as a central theme to visual anxiety.  Questions of what’s next or what’s out there come to mind.  It is the human condition to always be waiting and anticipating our future.  The use of black and white Infrared photography suggests a surrealistic and dream like future state. To complete this sense of the unknown, infrared wavelengths of light are not visible to the human eye, but can be captured in photography with altered sensors and filters.
