In a world that can easily persuade one to feel both cynicism and skepticism on many levels, I must admit that Ifeel fortunate to have been able to look in another direction that enables me to see the exceptional in the ordinary.
I acquire much of my inspiration from nature, the innocence of children and animals, and the humor that abounds all around us. It is for these reasons that I feel compelled to capture and share a special place or moment in time with others through my artwork.
My preoccupation with nature, ancient architecture from world travel exploration, and the fleeting interplay of light on my subjects, have been the mainstay of my work throughout my artistic career.
Photography was my first love, and then I moved toward painting in watercolor, acrylics and collage, exploring both representational and abstract alike.
I have come full circle, most recently working and experimenting with photography again and creating pieces that I call “photo-painting impressions.” It is through these photo-paintings that I am able to create representational compositions using photography in a painterly manner. I employ this technique in my renditions of animal portraiture as well.
Most recently, I have developed an interest combining the use of computer technology with my photography and traditional art techniques, creating digital photo collages. It is through this method that I combine my handmade collages, and my original photographs together, allowing me a new venue to convey my thoughts and ideas.
