As a figurative artist, my work over the past 20 years has encompassed a variety of mediums. My paintings in oil and acrylic/bas relief range from small up to mural size, and I have created art work with printmaking, in ink and graphite drawings, mixed media sculptures and constructions using various objects. Whatever the medium my focus has always been strongly related to a singular theme- the “Exploration of the Human Condition.”
Through my work I dare ask, sometimes in simple, sometimes in complicated terms, the question: what is this "Human Condition?” I hope to compel the viewer to search within or externally for his/her own answers to this query. Each different media or genre of my completed works poses the same questions from different perspectives.
The genesis, the root source of the works, often stem from a point of inquiry that I wish to convey tangibly for the viewer so that they may, if driven to, open dialogue within themselves in the quest for personal advancement.
Just as life gravitates through complicacy and varietal issues, so does the body of works that I have produced over the past 2 decades.
Delving into different media has not only kept the experiences fresh for me as an artist, but has also served to point out the fact that life is not static; omnipresent and barreling down upon us like a multi-headed monster at full-charge, it leaves no person behind.
In order to survive such an onslaught of stimuli, it would behoove a person to keep one step ahead for no other reason than for one's peace of mind in an utterly chaotic world.
This is why I have experimented over the years with printmaking, sculpture, painting, drawing, and constructions, in the attempts of shedding light on all and any issue that concerns the spiritual and emotional growth of the individual.
The body of my work is similar to genres such as: Neo-Expressionism, Religious Iconoclasts and the lesser established ‘Witty Banal.’ My line drawings depict the bizarre dark-side of a twisted humanity. They are filled with abstracted thingamabobs and whatnots intertwined with one another.
Welcome to my exploration of the human condition.
