Always interested in art, Leslie Saeta entered the world of fine art as a novice painter in her mid forties and has pursued her love of oil painting enthusiastically since. Leslie's art may include energetic brushwork, but she prefers working with a palette knife- wielding the blade with rapid, cutting gestures, to build up heavily textured layers of paint that add an extra dimension of depth to the completed canvas.
Her work is reminiscent of some of the later French impressionists who forwent pure realism to focus, not on the light source, but on the spectacular effects of light on the subject at hand using a limited palette of unblended colors in rapid renditions that capture the essence of the moment.
Working with a limited palette of Ultramarine blue, Cadmium yellow, Cadmium red medium, Sap green and Titanium white, she strives to capture the light perfectly in every painting.
Leslie is a full-time corporate event planner, a wife and mother of three teenage boys, and still finds time to paint almost daily and to maintain a written blog of her artistic activity.
