Lee Goldberg is a multi media artist creating exciting and innovative works in a variety of techniques.
She is primarily self-taught in mixed media collage, mask-making, surface design on fabric & paper, jewelry, altered books & mixed media sculpture.
Among her mentors, with whom she has studied specialties, she cites the late Fritz Scholder, Jonathan Talbot, Catherine Chang Liu & other accomplished artists in California, Washington & in her native state of Ohio.
Lee Goldberg has, herself, taught & lectured over the past 30 years in California & Ohio..
“As a Collage/Assemblage Artist I am constantly moving from 2 dimensional to 3 dimensional elements. There is an integration of everything I do, from fabric to painting, to jewelry to sculpture into how I live my life and to the things that surround me in my home. I share energy with everything around me. It guides my creative process and allows me to really SEE.
My interests in religions, mythology & diverse cultures from all regions and from different times have come to guide my vision. They become a large part of the story telling. The work is multi-layered in materials, ideas and created myths.
There is a dialogue between myself and the materials I choose to use: what they will and will not do; how the material will change and become something different than its original form. It is a give and take process of layering on and taking off until the work tells me it is finished."
Goldberg’s work has been shown & sold in her native Ohio, New Mexico, Arizona, & throughout California.
She is a member of ‘Collage Artists’ –a nationwide organization dedicated to promoting artists working in collage & assemblage, and a member of ‘Artists who teach’ – an organization of Artists who are or have been teachers.
