Jennifer Rae Ochs was born and raised in Forest Lake, Minnesota, the second child of four born to her tight knit family. Drawn early to creative pursuits Ochs began studying classical piano at age 4. Her unique perspective and passion for process found play in a variety of visual arts. She experimented with sculpture, photography and mixed media. However, painting with acrylics rapidly emerged as her favored medium of expression when she gained after-hour’s access to the University of Minnesota's art department and all its materials. During this time Ochs began to develop her discipline as a visual artist. Her work with acrylics on canvas revealed a thoughtful painter with a natural ability to translate her vision to canvas. Her vibrant abstracts of color and texture told a story. Ochs wanderlust beckoned and she temporarily satisfied her desire for world travel over the next few years traversing five continents. The diversity of peoples and cultures she observed served as great inspiration to her art. Travel had so broadened her world-view that Ochs was determined to find a career that was profitable and enjoyable, but also meaningful and beneficial to human kind. Opportunity struck in the luxury destinations industry. Ochs focused on creating and managing special events to benefit non-profit foundations. Her skilled approach to business quickly won her a promotion and transfer to Los Angeles where she continued her philanthropic work. Over the next decade she partnered with hundreds of organizations and helped to raise millions in funds. In 2004 Ochs had her first Gallery showing at Bergamot Station in Santa Monica. She was invited to present ten paintings the majority of which sold opening night. Her second solo show at Bergamot Station resulted in an invitation to present her work at the Sejong Cultural Center, in South Korea. Ochs was catapulted on to the international stage, as the sole American in an ensemble of leading international artists presenting in the museum show "Today and Tomorrow”. With a bolstered cult following Ochs began showing at prestigious galleries all over Southern California and to garner serious collectors. Ochs remains committed to community service. She indulges her passion for adventure travel whenever possible and continues her dedicated study of classical piano. As a full time artist Ochs divides her time between her studio in Los Angeles and her retreat in the remote woods of Northern Minnesota. She is currently completing a series of works inspired by her recent sojourn in the Middle East and is also experimenting with mixed media utilizing complex 3D synthesis of color and texture to create a new medium of expression.
