Emerging American artist James Dinverno was born in Detroit, Michigan in 1966. He received formal training at the Columbus College of Art and Design and is currently creating in his studio in Los Angeles. His works have been well received in the European market following the success of his recent ‘Moyea’ collection which was inspired by previous exhibits and his travels in Greece- moyea being ‘muse’ in Greek. Within this body of work, James explores the mythical lure of the nine Greek Muses in a graphically bold, contemporary context using a bold, visceral palette of form and color that has anchored him as a visual alchemist among his collectors.
Curvaceous, linear women, layered over explosive tonal collage declare the radiant sensual power of the female form.
James has developed the series further with more work, exploring the multi ethnic muses of China, Japan, Korea and India that reflect and reveal the interplay of enlightened sexual desires which inspire and bemuse in ‘Moyea’.
In his words: "I tend to perceive things in multiple variations. Let the mind unravel and weave its way through pop culture excited by social, political, sexual, and spiritual stimuli. My work should force the viewers to conduct an introspective peeling of their conditioned layers. Challenge their structure."
James Dinverno is a published author: “Sanctum” –Minerva Press, London UK; with recent verse and prose in “The American Drivel Review” Vol. 5 No. 1(Summer 2008 edition).

"In this vivid and raw collection of work, James Dinverno captures the spirit of twentieth-century life. Packed with potent images of decay, abuse, conflict, intimacy and pain, this is a thought provoking portrait of humanity - one that explores the baseness as well as the miracle of mankind.
Fast and furious, aggressive and agitated, this work is neither condemnatory nor celebratory, but lays bare the perils of modern existence. An eclectic blend of poetry and prose, comedy and tragedy, the immediate and the historical, Sanctum is provocative, startling, and vibrant."
