FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Why does artLAnow.com only accept work from artists in the greater Los Angeles area?
First and foremost it is because our own address is within that locality and we would like to establish close relationships with the artists exhibiting with us. There are many websites accepting work by artists from all over the world. Artists who prefer to be part of a worldwide artistic community can choose from many of these options.
Our concept is to localize both the artists and the art buyers in order to facilitate accessibility and communication.
Art lovers and collectors living in and around L.A. will be within driving distance of the artist’s studio, gallery exhibitions and art events and will be able to see first hand the artist’s work. We obviously still encourage buyers, wherever they may be, in the world to buy from L.A’s best artists.

What are the exact demarcation limits of “the greater Los Angeles area”?
If an artist is living, or has a studio within a 45 miles radius of downtown L.A. we will generally accept his/her work- if appropriate.

If I choose a plan and follow registration will my work be automatically accepted and posted?
artLAnow.com is not a juried exhibition website. We hope to attract serious, dedicated artists from around L.A. who believe in the quality of their own art. However, ‘Art’ is ‘what it is’- as the saying goes; so, in general, we will not refuse work unless it is blatantly terrible, offensive, obscene and hateful etc.

Why can’t I upload my own images and text like on other websites?
Perhaps later on the format of artLAnow.com will allow you to do this. At the moment we do not offer this possibility.

What if I don’t want to publish my personal contact information on my artist page?
We understand that some users want to protect themselves from misuse of that information. Artists may use our Website email address as a precautionary step in order to answer enquiries from potential buyers.
