In my work I focus on the visually poignant moments that give life meaning. My subjects are often from my family and friends - people that I know well and with whom I have a deeper connection. Knowing a person helps me an artist to capture, in a naturalist manner, the essence of the moment and an expression of the person’s character.

My subjects understand the hardships of life and the joys. They are hard working, they treasure their dreams and they have goals they strive to achieve. They are representative of the Los Angeles Latino working class.

A figurative and portrait artist must strive for honesty and sincerity. It is essential. A true portrait should reflect both the inner character of the subject and the circumstantial moment of depiction. If a subject is to be revealed the artist must show what is in the eyes, what is behind the smile or beneath the sadness, and what is beyond the pose.

I have had the good fortune to study on a full scholarship with numerous artists at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA. My teachers are numerous and I am indebted to their guidance and their encouragement. Among them I include Aaron Smith, Sergio Sanchez, Charles Hu, Kent Williams, Steve Huston, Ron Brown, Kevin Chen, Alex Shafer and Bill Perkins.

I am available for commissioned portraits.

In addition to portraits, I accept commissions to do illustrations and designs including background and layout paintings. I have previously illustrated book covers and created concept paintings for marketing groups.

I am also proficient in computer programs such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Core Painter and Microsoft Word.
