ARTIST STATEMENT

For a natural born artist, art is not just a hobby or a career.  Painting is part of who he is.  It is more than a passion; more than a conviction or vocation.

For me, art is an expression of love; an intimate interaction between me, the canvas and the world! When I stopped creating and focused in other activities, I did find success, but not personal fulfillment.  I realized that all the other fields left me feeling empty and almost fake!  After struggling with many other issues in my life I was finally saved by the love of my family and my art. I realized that all my past emotions and experiences have made me who I am today - maybe a bit broken, yet whole! Each of our lives is like a painting with many different colors complementing each other in a raw balance. Somber colors, which portray sadness, mix with bright tones and vivid colors which are synergetic to happiness. That is the power of colors; they can evoke phantoms of past or give perspective to present experiences.

Through color and abstraction I continually try to convey a message of emotions and energy!  I try to represent my experiences and feelings in line, form, composition and in the blending of colors. Images seem to speak to me; I hear messages of hope and despair; I hear joy, pain and anguish. While I believe every painting is infused with the spiritual energy of the artist – it also absorbs part of the omnipresent spiritual energy that surrounds us at all times.

After being involved in a vehicle accident I realized how fragile and short life is and that we must believe in ourselves to accomplish our goals and pursue our dreams. Each person has to make choices, to make the right decisions or not. Each person learns from his choices as I have learned from mine. I try to apply what I have learned to my relationships and to my daily life  even though it sometimes seems that a canvas is the only entity that understands me and ‘loves’ back unconditionally.

The artist that I am today is a result of another chance the Creator and the universe has given me.
I love painting!  It’s that plain and simple.  I wish wellness to all!
