Influenced by his father, who was a published cartoonist, Dan Twyman began drawing at an early age. He mastered form and subtle shading techniques very quickly and during his school years attracted the attention of his teachers and fellow students with the skill of his various sketches and portraits. While Dan has studied with a few art instructors, he is self taught for the most part, using books on anatomy, architecture and design etc., as sources for instruction and influence for his work.
In 1980 Dan began working in the commercial art industry while continuing to spend as much time and energy as possible for creating artworks suited to the high-end fine art world.
Over the years he has amassed a prolific portfolio of over 1500 drawings and while pencils, pens, crayons and charcoals remain his preferred medium he is also a skilled painter, working mostly nowadays in acrylics.
He regards artists such as Salvador Dali and Picasso as his greatest influences.
Dan's works have sold in galleries, coffee shops, private party sales and online.
