The inspiration for Carole’s artwork comes from moments of meditation, from imagery that pervades the semi-conscious mind just before sleep, and from dreams themselves. Meditation plays a strong part in her life and through it she has devised visualization techniques from which she develops the work. Colors and shapes affect mood in powerful ways, interacting with different levels of energy and stimulating emotive responses that can be overt or subtle. By incorporating metal leaf into many of her paintings she adds an element to the work that intensifies the changing hues and tones as they reflect the changing light of day. While the subject matter is complex and the colors bold and vibrant, the overall ambience of her canvases remains one of calm and tranquility. Carole creates her art in the hope that it will instill a sense of healing and aid to whoever observes it and that it will evoke a joyful, uplifting response.
“There is an underlying pure and positive force that can be expressed through the visual medium of painting; it is at once mysterious and yet accessible to human consciousness. My paintings reflect something about the process of becoming conscious, of human beings’ quest for realizing the ultimate power within ourselves. In a way we are like television sets; each of us tuned to different channels with circumstances and events flipping us from mode to mode. I am striving to tune my channels, by honing my intuitiveness so that I can see a broader picture. Some years ago I experienced something that opened up a world inside me that is filled with more images than the outside world. I sensitize myself to helpful energies that have healing qualities and are powerful on the psyche, and I express them in my work. We are on a journey through time and space on this very small planet; part of a massive life system with perhaps many others out there in the universe on the same journey.”
