I strive to keep my designs simple, true, powerful, and made from only the purest materials. Each detail has been crafted with care, right down to the clasp on any necklace or bracelet. That means that when it inevitably slips ’round, it will always look just as beautiful, no matter what position - even when the openings show; especially when the openings show. It’s my belief that life is like this… or can be. So wear with confidence. True beauty comes from within. But a little sparkle here and there never hurt anybody.
Most of my ideas come to me while I am in motion. When not in motion, I tend to daydream about being in motion. I take my inspiration from every day, quotidian pleasures and annoyances, as well as moments that are truly sublime. I have been fortunate to travel extensively, and experience a range of different cultures, people and mentalities and (apologies to Alfred Lord Tennyson) am a part of all that I have met. I like to think my designs are, as well.
In formal training: I have none. I have studied Philosophy, Literature, Theatre, Dance, Film, Psychology, and Architecture. I don’t know what any of it has taught me, except an appreciation for beauty and simplicity. Whether in line, thought, verse or action, the simple but flowing ideas are the ones that endure. Philosophy of Aesthetics, or really, the Philosophy of Art, teaches us much about how art and beauty evokes emotion, or fails to. The subject has fascinated me for years. So one day I just started making jewelry—and it seemed to blend all this almost magically.
Beauty in all forms causes a visceral response- it is this response I am interested in, and what happens next when we experience that. Philosophers have argued the point for ages, but for me, beauty is freedom, form and kindness. And faith that everything around us is part of a greater design, all working towards what it should be.
The profound wonders of the natural world consistently amaze me. It is with this wonder that I began designing: an attempt to capture the innate/latent magic that exists in gemstones, metals and other organic objects. I have included the reported powers of each stone and metal in the item description, as a gentle reminder there are always qualities in each of us that can use enhancement. I am what they call a Native New Yorker, hence inherently not allowed to be a crystal-healing weirdo. Just someone with faith in things I don’t understand. To which I give ultimate credit to many years spent in the South, as well as my current sun-filled days in Venice, CA.
I probably don’t need to tell you that when you look good, you feel good. Or that true beauty comes from within. But I wish you much beauty in all realms of your life; increased faith in whatever sustains you, and the power and courage to be your best self. I hope my designs help, and if not my designs, then just the thought behind them.
I wish you a very beautiful and happy life.Custom orders welcome. Please contact me to discuss your needs. I am very pleased to showcase my designs for select audiences.
