I fell in love with the creative arts while doodling pencil sketches of the people around me. Drawing led me naturally to painting and, through this progression, I discovered what I really love to do – paint.

I was smitten with enthusiasm and passion. I soon began to focus on doing portraits and figurative work. No one who came to my house escaped without a portrait rendered in one medium or another. When doing a portrait I try to capture the inner personality of the subject, and at the same time, give expression to the moment in time that qualifies that person’s life. Being acquainted with the subjects of my figurative works helps me capture a dimension of their character that I would, perhaps, otherwise be unable to see.

After a period in which I concentrated only on people as subjects, I moved on to landscapes and still-life.

As an artist I never cease learning about ways to master techniques and to gain a better understanding of color and composition. Our visual perspectives of the world change constantly. Just as the changing light from morning to night changes our perception of the landscape, other more spiritual factors change our vision of the world. In every work I try to infuse something of myself, something that tells you, the viewer, about my perception of the subject.

In recent years I have participated in the excursions of the North East 6 Plein Air Painters. This small group of fellow artists, who share a love of nature and a love of painting, meets regularly to venture out with paints and easel. We have spent many enjoyable and educational weekends in this manner. Our meetings allow us to share ideas and learn from each other while doing what we enjoy most - painting.

In the past when I lived in Venice Beach, and Austin TX and Chicago I sold art directly from my studio. My works are in many private collections in 5 states and 3 countries.
