Angelique Antoniou has been an avid photographer since the age of twelve.
In her travels from London to Salzburg to Athens - observing daily life, her camera has captured those spontaneous moments that reveal and illuminate the human condition. An injury when she was 14 years old forced her to give up ballet dancing. Since then she has dedicated part of her extraordinary talents as a photographer to recording the choreography of dance, the moments of exhilaration, trepidation and despair experienced by the dancers. She is often behind the scenes at performances to capture a side of the world of dance that we rarely see. Her preference for black and white images is testimony of her commitment to a photojournalistic approach to fine art photography.
She brings the same style and feeling to all her subjects, be it weddings, portraits, special events or headshots. Angelique loves photographing people.
My photographs represent my life. They show how I see the events that occur around me. I am exposing my life to you, for these photos are the moments in my life which I thought were worth preserving and exhibiting. Each moment can never be recaptured. That is one aspect that makes photography so powerful and amazing. Who can ever recreate that moment in time, that feeling! So, my aim is to grab that moment that might have passed unnoticed or been forgotten in order that we might reflect on it, and on ourselves. I want you to see "a glimpse of life" through my eyes. I thank the Lord for the gift of sight, and for enabling me to capture on film His creations.”
I agree with Henri Cartier-Bresson who said, "We are passive onlookers in a world that moves perpetually. Our only moment of creation is that 1/125 of a second when the shutter clicks, the signal is given, and motion is stopped..."

Ms. Antoniou's works have been shown in numerous solo and group exhibitions throughout the United States and have been published in the winter 1996/1997 issue of CALYX's "A Journal of Art and Literature by Women", the March 1997 issue of "Dancer", "Creative Loafing", art/fiction magazine, "Caffeine", the "Traffic Report" and "The Los Angeles Times". Her work has won several awards in photographic exhibitions and competitions.
